The thesis is devoted to theoretical and applied problems of optimal finding of technical-operating parameters of transport units supplying delivery of a cargo in intermodal transport, both under determined conditions and under uncertainty and risk. The analysis of technical and commercial premises of originating multimodal and intermodal transport is done, the features of their organization art detected, the functions and problems of the intermodal operator are determined, the intermodal legislation regulating intermodal transport is parsed existing. The role of state support in development of intermodal transport and international trade is analyzed.
