Through the prism of space approach the thesis gives the complex review of the phenomenon of poverty in old industrial region (by the example of Donbas) for the first time in domestic sociological science. Based on the methodologies of P. Bourdieu and P. Shtompka there was worked out a model for examining social space of poverty, which draws attention to the position of the poor in the social space, their habitat and way of life.
