Essay

The dissertation is devoted to studying the state of neurons and astrocytes in rat hippocampus and to revealing the possibility of its compensation at the early stages of experimental diabetes development. It is shown, that the degenerative changes in neurons are registered at day 3 and the signs of reactive astrogliosis are revealed at day 7 from the induction of diabetes mellitus. The dynamics of such changes is differenced depending on the area af hippocampus. The most earlier and profound signs of alteration of nervous cells observed in CA2 field. It was shown for the first time that changes of dendritic tree and hippocampus remodeling occur during 14 days after diabetes oncet. Assessment of the expression level of PSMB5, PSMB9 and Bcl-2 in hippocampus indicated in significant elevation of proteasome subunit PSMB-9 and slight activation of antiapoptotic Bcl-2 expression. Multiple injection of glucocorticoid blocker metyrapone leads to neuroprotection in hippocampus and to decrease reactive astrogliosis during first two weeks of streptosotocine diabetes development in rats.
