On the grounds of analysis of linguistic, linguo-didactic and psychological sources and the practice of teaching at higher school the methodology of the communicatively oriented study of the simple complicated sentence at philological departments of pedagogical educational institutions is theoretically grounded and experimentally tested. The author determined the criteria of selection of the content of teaching material. The system of educational-training exercises with the elements of stylistic syntax is worked out. The texts of different functional styles are selected. The methods and ways of teaching favourable for the formation of future language and literature teachers' professional competence are defined. The author proposes the system of educational-training exercises, which is based on the conception of V.Melnichaiko, the exercises are divided into proper stylistic and cognitive-functional. The proper stylistic and cognitive-functional exercises are connected with synonymy and stylistic devicesand are aimed to the development of skills to find, recognize, construct and analyze synonymic constructions of different types, styles and genres of speaking. The offered training exercises have three levels of complexity: reproductive, partly exploring and creative. The efficiency of the methodology is theoretically grounded and experimentally proved.
