Gorbatyuk O. Stepan Smal'-Stockyj as a literary critic: figures and phenomena of new Ukrainian literature.

Dissertation is the first complex research of literary heritage of S. Smal'-Stots'kyj, starting from his articles-speeches dedicated to the jubilees of outstanding public figures of the Ukrainian literature up to Shevchenko studies of the Prague period of the activities. A comprehensive analysis of the Shevchenko studies by the scholar has been performed. On the basis of the material under analysis the scientific and methodological approaches in S. Smal'-Stots'kyj's research have been theoretically grounded and his outstanding row in the Ukrainian literary studies of the end of the XIXth and the first third of the XXth century has been emphasized.
