Matsyuk V. Psychological mechanisms of formation the image of the future spouse by youth.

The dissertation is devoted to the study of psychological mechanisms of forming the image of a future spouse by the youth. The concept "the image of a future spouse" is extended and deepened. On the basis of analysis of the marriage choice leading theories, the groups of psychological mechanisms of forming the image of a future spouse by the youth have been determined and their content revealed. The process of sex role identification, self-appraisal, and stereotype formation as the leading mechanism of forming the image of a future spouse by the youth has been grounded. The leading criterion, indexes, levels of a formed image of the future spouse and levels of identification as well as stereotype formation of the future spouse image have been found. The programme of active purposeful social-psychological studies "Optimization of the marriage choice", which is instrumental in reducing the sex role identification with parents, forming the adequate self-appraisal and diminishing the level of stereotype formation, is developed and scientifically grounded.
