Essay

The dissertation is devoted to determination of the applicability limits for theory of multi-layer thermoelements; development of theoretical basics for solving the tasks of optimization of new types of double-layer and three-layer thermoelements with a periodically profiled surface in the mode of electric energy generation; optimization of new thermoelement types geometry for achievement of maximal efficiency; experimental research on parameters and characteristics of a double-layer thermoelement with a periodically profiled surface and comparison of experimental results to theoretical and computer simulation data. Results of computer optimization of double-layer transverse thermoelements with a profiled surface have been experimentally confirmed. It is shown that the results of computer simulation lie within the error band of physical experiment. Computer simulation of short-circuited thermoelements with metal shorting stripes deposited on a semiconductor layer has shown the possibility of increasingtransverse EMF by a factor of 2-6.
