Essay

The object - dual-energy x ray absorptiometry. The goal – development of physical methods of characterization of materials according to the effective atomic number Zeff in radiographic control. Methods – scintillation method of X-ray radiation detection; spectrometric method of X-ray radiation recording; methods to calculate X-ray radiation-substance interaction. Results – physical method has been developed for characterization of materials according to the effective atomic number Zeff in radiographic control; analytic expressions have been obtained to determine a characterization parameter which is proportional to the mass attenuation coefficient of X-ray radiation and does not depend on material thickness and density; a criterion has been defined for unambiguous material characterization according to the effective atomic number Zeff in radiography in the energy range 20 - 150 keV. Scope – Scope – physical research, instrumentation, information technology
