Romanenko L. Ustim Karmalyuk as a historical personality in Ukrainian literature and folklore.

The author in the thesis investigates artistic concept of Ustim Karmalyuk's activity in Ukrainian literature and folklore, studies artistic and aesthetic peculiarities of literary works on the subject, that came out in XIX-XXI centuries. The author interprets the influence of Ukrainian, Russian, Polish and Soviet historiography on the artistic creativity about Podol avenger's protest actions, determines aesthetic role of historical documents in the artistic modelling of events. The thesis clarifies the role of Karmalyuk's actions as the form of Ukrainian people's public emulation in historical development of ethnos, reveals specific features of its artistic implementation in literature and folklore, determines the place of folklore and literary karmalyukiana.
