The dissertation deals with the problem of constituting, constitutional and legal development of Slovakian Republic during 1989-2004 under the condition of democratic changes of the society and its preparing and joining the European Union. The analysis of the genesis of the constitutional status of Slovakian statehood during the first and second Czechoslovakian Republics and at the time of socialism, takes an important part in the thesis. Great attention is paid to the reorientation of the constitutional system of Slovakian Republic at the time of its formation as an independent country and the process of establishment of government formation. The dissertation includes the investigation into the problem of Slovakian Republic's constitutional development during its state formation, particularly, deviation from the democratic standards in the middle of 1990-s, contents and technology of constitutional reform processing realization in 1999-2001. The creation of the constitutional mechanism of joining theEuropean Union by the Slovakian Republic and all connected with it directions of reforming of its constitutional system during 1999-2004 have completely been studied and presented in the thesis.
