Tagiltceva Y. The Peculiarity and Role of Landscape in Boris Pasternak's Lyrics

The thesis concentrates on the systematical analysis of the peculiarity and role of landscape in Boris Pasternak's lyrics. The evolution of the given category in the artist's creative work has been determined. The theoretical term "landscape" has been specified; the approaches to studying landscape in the history of literature have been generalized. The parameters of the classification of landscape have been suggested. Different functions of landscape in B. Pasternak's lyrics (aesthetic, psychological, transforming, philosophical) have been marked. The text functions (image-bearing, plot forming, composition making, constructive, concept reflecting, genre and stylistic) have been also stressed. The main forms of landscape in the artist's lyric work have been studied: according to dominating connotations - historical, realistic, psychological, mythological, oneiric, cultural, philosophical, artistic landscapes; by spatial characteristics - landscapes of garden, wood, river, sea, mountains, town etc.; on the temporary basis - landscapes of different seasons and periods of time. The peculiarity and role of landscape in Boris Pasternak's lyrics have been investigated during all artist's creative work. It has given the possibility to enrich the matter of the category "landscape" in Russian literature of the Silver age.
