Essay

Together with the description of clinical finding of the diphtheria being observed in 1991-1999 with adult people the thesis presents the analysis of therapeutic efficiency of generally accepted antidiphtheritic serum doses, both middle and 1.5 to 2 times increased as well as investigation results on data succession for nonspecific resistance: immunoglobulins, circulating immune complexes, sulfhydryl groups in the blood serum and microbicidal activity of neutrophils. An inexpediency of antidiphtheric serum doses increase compared with generally accepted is ascertained as excessive doses of antidiphtheric serum do not provide the duration of disease symptoms reduction but contribute to the frequency of complications growth. It is ascertained that the activity increase of alkaline phosphatase of neutrophils and lactate dehydrogenase as well as the concentration of cationic proteins reduction in neutrophils together with deceleration of phagocytosis completeness, concentration reduction of sulfhydryl groupsand circulating immune complexes increase in blood serum can become objective criteria of the disease severity and completeness of recovery and probability of complications. Keywords: diphtheria, antidiphtheric serum, alkaline fosfataza and lactate dehydrogenase in neutrophils, cationic proteins, immunoglobulins, sulfhydryl groups.
