Tarkhanova O. Application of tetrazolium salts in spectro-photometric analysis of medicinal substances

The dissertation deals with the development of highly sensitive, simple and valid spectrophotometric methods for determination of o-, p-diphenols, flavonoids, steroid hormones and cephalosporin antibiotics. Proposed methods are based on reaction of medicinal substances, which possess reducing properties, with tetrazolium salts. Different variables affecting the reaction were studied and optimized. Under the optimum conditions the analytical indices of reaction sensitivity were established. Based on results of polarographic studies and quantum-chemical calcu-lations the relationships between structures of investigated compounds, their redox properties and reactivity with tetrazolium salts were inferred. Possibility of tetrazolium salts application as elution reagent for TLC identification of medicinal substances were studied. Selective and ex-press procedures have been described and validated for the quantitative determination of investigated compounds in 34 modern pharmaceutical preparations, the flavonoids in a pharmaceutical forms and some medici-nal substances in blood serum
