The dissertation deals with the semantic-pragmatical analysis of the performative expressions based on the material of the Ukrainian historical prose. The structure of Ukrainian performative verbs is outlined and their subject groups are analysed, the grammar peculiarities of the performative units and their contextual transpositions are described and characterized, the descriptive status of the verb to speak / to say is substantiated.
