Essay

On the model of corazol- induced kindling it was established that bacterial lypopolysacharide (LPS) caused the retardation of generalized seizures formation along with the suppression of electrographic epileptiform manifestations. The effective dosage of corazol, which induced clonic seizures in 50% animals was seen during the early stage of LPS action as well as increasing of that dosage in postponed period of LPS action on the postponed generalized kindled seizures. Similar effects have been registered with regard to action of LPS on acute seizures, which have been induced by systemic and intrahippocampal administration of penicillin, kainic acid and strychnine solutions. Antiepileptic effects of LPS have been abolished by naloxone and were intensified by transcranial magnetic stimulation of brain as well as by electric paleocerebellar stimulations. LPS caused the reduction of thiol groups and ascorbic acid level in rat's blood.
