The object of the research is grammatical constructions “addressee passive” in the contemporary German. The purpose of the research is to define regularities of the grammaticalization process of addressee passive, its structural-semantic characteristics, integration into the German passive voice paradigm and discourse related features of its use. The methods of the research include: structural-semantic design under consideration of valence theory and semantic cases theory, contextual method, distribution method, syntactic transformations, questionnaire survey with involvement of German native speakers as well as some elements of etymologic, stylistics and statistics analysis. The scientific value of the research: The thesis contains the first systematic analysis of the addressee passive, investigates its grammaticalization process, defines typical situation of its use in the German discourse, develops cognitive-semantic potential of addressee passive, identifies the specific features of the use of theaddressee passive in the status-oriented and individual oriented discourse types. The typology of the addressee passive and delimitation of the addressee passive from homonymous grammar constructions in German are also innovative parts of the research. The theoretical value of the research is defined by its contribution to the development of theoretical grammar, lexicology, stylistics, language pragmatics, discourse linguistics and cognitive semantics. The practical value of the research consists in the possibility of implementation and integration of the achieved results and conclusions within the academic process at universities in the development of lectures and seminars on Theoretical Grammar (part “Grammatical Categories of Verb”), History of German Language (parts “Principles of evolution of grammatical forms”, “Evolution of analytical constructions”), in advanced seminars on the grammaticalization theory and discourse linguistics, in the research of students and postgraduate students.
