Essay

In the thesis the ideological-aesthetic originality of historical prose by G.Kolisnyk and Y.Khorunzhiy in the aspect of Ukrainian centric vectors concerned with the personage of Ivan Mazepa is inquired. It's for the first time when an interpretation of the main structure creating factors of the artistic discourse of the novels "Mazepa the Hetman" by G.Kolisnyk and "Who Loves, Harmony Has" by Y.Khorunzhiy is proposed. It has been revalued the figure of the great hetman whose life and activity were aimed at the realization of a state creating idea in the policy, economy, spirituality and culture. These novels' main character is characterized in compliance with the most modern scientific and methodological principles of literary criticism. The research is carried out against a spacious background of centuries-old literary Mazepiana that enables to trace the evolution of the hetman's image in the universal and national written works, specificity of typological semblances and dissemblances (common motives, genres, subject and compositional touches) and forms of interliterary perceptions (impacts, image-bearing analogies, reminiscences).
