Ryabets Y. Comprehensive assessment of potential traffic danger at the cross-roads.

Dissertation theme is the devising and improvement of the evaluation methods of the complexity of one-level cross-roads in the street-road system by means of the assessment of the conflict degree of traffic and pedestrian streams and the following integrated assessment of traffic junction complexity on this basis. Analysis of the existing evaluation methods of traffic junction complexity revealed the outdated approaches to the definition of cross-roads complexity which didn't correspond to the present-day situation in city streets. The investigations of the enlarged statistical data on the accident rates in different regions in Ukraine along with theoretical and experimental investigations by means of the expert assessment method enabled to reveal a group of the most prominent conflict points and to determine their interrelation. Proposed algorithm for data selection of the accident rates at the cross-roads, worked out on the principle of area of concentration of traffic accident choice, which are characterized by the high degree of conflict between traffic and pedestrian streams, and created on its basis methodology enable to carry out the complex assessment of potential danger at existing and projected cross-roads.
