Object of the study is hydronymicon of the former Velykiy Loug of Zaporozhye. Objectives of the thesis include systematic lexical-semantic investigation of the ways of formation and structure of hydronymicon subsystem. Methods used in the research include descriptive method, classification and systematization. Scientific novelty: the thesis is the first to systematically describe regional names of water objects. Theoretical significance: thesis contributes to understanding regional microhydronymicon structure. Practical significance: examples provided in the thesis can be used in further studies in the field of onomastics, dialectology, historical linguistics, lexicography. Field - philology.
