NOVIKOVA I. Development of the Ukrainian banking system under conditions of the emerging market economy (second half of the XIX century - beginning of the XX century)

The dissertation is devoted to the investigation of the problem of Ukrainian banking system formation, while Ukraine had been the part of the Russian empire in the latter half of XIX - beginning of the XX century. The economical essence and nature of the banking system, banks and credits has been revealed. The role of the system in the formation of native market economy is defined. The system's elements classification is done, and also its structure and functions are presented. Basing on the vast historical and economical literature, archive and statistical pre-revolutionary data, an analysis of the efficiency of the Ukrainian banking system development in the latter half of XIX - beginning of the XX century is done. In addition theoretical views of the Ukrainian economists on the formation of the system are defined. The peculiarities of its lawful activity regulation, government policy, activity categories and dynamics of bank operations are revealed.
