Utkina K. Geoenvironmental Assessment of Coastal Zone in the Ukrainian Part of the Azov/Black Sea Basin

The thesis has involved the geoenvironmental assessment of Ukrainian coastal zone, including the ranking of its specific parts in terms of the anthropogenic loading level; and development of the methodology for applying an integrated approach towards the implementation of environmental protection measures. Other outcomes include the development of a ranking technique for point pollution sources and formulation of approaches, designed to rationalize efficiency of environmental investments. Environmental project preparation procedures have been presented in a formalised manner; various issues on the application of integrated approach addressed. The systemic analysis of the State Programme for Environmental Rehabilitation and Protection of the Azov/Black Sea Basin has been performed; and its revisions in line with the developed methodology are proposed.
