Essay

In the dissertation the complex research of the periodical "Herald for the rusins of the Austrian State" of the years 1850 - 1866 has been conducted for the first time for all sixteen years of its publication. The organizational and ideological bases of the periodical have been identified as well as the main directions of its activity, the program demands and the orientation points of its editorship. The issues of the newspaper supplements having strong thematic genre direction have been analyzed and the readership address has been identified. The most significant publications of "Herald" have been researched enlightening the political events and the reaction on them in the world. The essays, the pamphlets and the obituary notices have been researched as to publicistic genre. There has been shown the role of the periodical in the support and organization of the literary and theatrical life in Halychyna, Bukovyna and Transcarpathia in the middle of the XIX th century. The problems of the publishing on "Herald" pages have been researched on the factual material.
