Essay

The dissertation is focused on the analysis of the distinctive features of artistic realization of "Late Postmodernism" tendencies in works of a famous modern Russian writer-postmodernist V. O. Pelevin based on his novel "The Sacred Book of the Werewolf" and a cycle of prose works "The Dialectics of the Transition Period from Nowhere to No Place". The following problems are found in the thesis: the realization of postmodernism concepts in modern literary studies, the analysis of dominant vectors of its development, the proof of author's own vision of "Late Postmodernism" notion in its modern content, the outline of interpretation of V. Pelevin's prose peculiarities in the literary studies and literary criticism discourse at the end of 20th - beginning of 21st centuries. The dissertation contains the analysis of world and hero models in V. Pelevin's works; it also discovers the peculiarities of the way the author uses ceremonial and mythological strategies. The research is also focused on the exploration of peculiarities in transformation of postmodernism artistic paradigm in the latest works of the Russian writer. In order to fulfill the aim of the research, the distinctive features of artistic self-reflection of postmodernism in V. Pelevin's latest prose have been analyzed, the transformation of postmodernism artistic code in the writer's works has been traced, and the peculiarities of elements of mass and elite literature synthesis have been discovered.
