Essay

The dissertation deals with the results of theoretical and experimental study of adaptational possibilities of left-handed children in educational activity. The notion of adaptational possibilities is revealed. Basic reasons of the beginning of left-handing such as genetic, pathological, the influence of surroundings and also forced left-handing are defined. Different approaches concerning the study of functional asymmetries, dynamics of their coming-to-be in ontogenesis are analysed. The essence and the regularity of factors which have an influence on the success of adaptation and the regularity of factors which have a negative influence on the execution of activity are fixed. The analysis of psychological difficulties of objective or subjective character in educational activity of left-handed junior schoolchildren is carried out. The modified developing programme which advances adaptational possibilities of left-handed children is approved. Our suggested programme includes three phases. It includes exercises for the development of arbitrariness, spatial representations, speech and thinking. Also it includes taskes which are directed to the development of the interaction of cerebral hemispheres. We Rave proved experimentally that psychological preventive measures and correction have an influence on the increase of adaptational possibilities of left-handed junior schoolchildren.
