Tsyganenko O. Diagnostics and surgical treatment of nodular goiter in combination with the autoimmune thyreoditis

The thesis deals with the matter of optimization of diagnostics and surgical treatment of patients with nodular goiter in combination with the autoimmune thyreoditis depending on functional activity of the thyroid gland and the stage of autoimmune process within the thyroid tissue. 127 patients with nodular goiter in combination with the autoimmune thyreoditis were included in the work. After analysis of the results and comparing them with the clinical characteristics we noted a direct dependence of the functional state of the thyroid gland upon the stage of the autoimmune thyreoditis. The patients with the combined pathology are recommended to have the radical surgical interference, namely, the thyreodectomy. Upon comparing the findings concerning the quality of life in patients with nodular goiter in combination with the autoimmune thyreoditis depending on the functional activity and the control group it was detected that the disorder of functional activity of the thyroid gland had negative effect on many aspects of the quality of life in patients with the thyroid pathology.
