Essay

The dissertation is devoted to theoretical and experimental investigations on the processes of selective HCN removal by soda solution with weak alkalinity, heat stable salts influence on the absorption and regeneration of sour components of coke oven gas. New approaches have been proposed to traditionally accepted criteria explanation for the flow splitting of the two stage vacuum carbonate desulphurization unit. The explanation of the heat stable salts influence for the processes not only absorption but also regeneration has been given with the concepts of ionic strength solution. Data have been experimentally obtained that while HCN absorption by weak soda solution the alkalinity had been the main factor of HCN selective removal and pH solution was the second rate factor. The key factor upon the HCN regeneration from weak soda alkalinity solution was pH solution. The new technological regime of HCN selective removal has been developed. The regime was implemented on the desulphurization unit of corporation "ArselorMittal Krivy Rig". Meanwhile the first stage solution alkalinity decreasing the HCN total removal efficiency has been increased. The H2S removal efficiency was kept on existing high level. Soda ash consumption has been decreased for the 57 metric ton per year for the 100,000 cubic meter per hour gas flow. It was gained economical effect as much as 107,000 UAH/year except of income tax. Basic engineering project for the design of the sour condensate decyanization and utilization of waste solution were given to the institute GIPROKOKS. Materials of the dissertation are used during teaching at the Chairs of the NTU Kharkov Polytechnical Institute, DonNTU, National Metallurgical Academy of Ukraine
