Essay

Plasma kinetics in glow discharge in mixture of air with ethanol's and water's vapors in different regimes of plasmachemical reactor is studied for the first time. It is shown that with constant airflow the hydrogen concentration reaches the maximum value under conditions of the equal quantity of H2O and C2H5OH in solution in regime with both solid electrodes. At the same time, in regime without airflow [Н2] increases monotonically when the content of the ethanol in the solution grows. The role of electrolysis was found when the regime with one solid electrode was researched. It was shown that the electrochemical processes can be neglected when the working liquid is ethanol. But the above processes are important when the working liquid is water. It allowed to investigate plasma kinetics in regime with one solid electrode without accounting the electrolysis. It was shown that [Н2] grows monotonically when current increases. Also, it was shown that [Н2] decreases when the pumping speed of air increases. Comparing the concentrations of the main products of plasma conversion in different regimes, the preferences of the regime with both solid electrodes without airflow was shown. This regime provides the highest level of [Н2] and the lowest levels of CO and CO2 concentrations. Also, [Н2] reaches the saturation in experimentally achievable region. The same is observed in regime with one solid electrode. The comparison of two methods for calculation of plasma kinetics in dielectric barrier discharge in air was made in the dissertation work. This allows to conclude that the space inhomogeneities of glow discharges at atmospheric pressure can be neglected. Also, the effect of free parameters on concentration of some species of gas mixture was studied. It was shown how these quantities affect the plasma kinetics.
