Essay

The object - two-dimensional photonic crystal, couplers and waveguides based on the photonic crystal. The aim - scientific task solving that consist in defining physical rules of the structural features influence of the photonic crystal based on the GaAs on the optical spectral characteristics of the optical elements based on the photonic crystal. Methods: numerical methods of the Maxwell equation solving; e-beam lithography. Scientific novelty: photonic crystal effective index of the photonic crystal has been defined; the most effective photonic crystal, coupler and waveguide based on the photonic crystal have been defined; waveguides based on the Kagome and graphite photonic crystals and waveguides based on the widen core have been analyzed. Theoretical value: model of the photonic crystal effective index allow to simplify and to accelerate the theoretical computation on the PC; systematized information about photonic band gap maps of the photonic crystal; improving ways of existing waveguides based on the photonic crystal have been shown. Practical value: experimental samples of the photonic crystal based on the GaAs have been fabricated; the research materials can be used for the photonic crystal conception and optical process developing; also it can be used during designing and fabrication of the elements based on the photonic crystal. Field of application: optics, laser physics.
