Moskalets O. Teaching the students of language departments English writing with the help of computer technologies.

The thesis deals with the methodology of teaching writing in English to the first-year students of language depart-ments with the help of a computer teaching programme. The methodology has been theoretically substantiated. The selected content of teaching practical English writing and the peculiarities of instructing the first-year students have provided the basis for the creation of the subsystem of exercises. The analysis of the potential of computer-assisted language learning has facilitated the selection of exercises to be included in the programme as a part of the subsystem. The main emphasis has been placed on the prospects of independent studies with the computer teaching programme. The algorithms for the exercises in the computer teaching programme have been worked out and described. The stages of teaching have been determined and two variants of the teaching model have been created. The effectiveness of the suggested methodology was verified and confirmed in the course of experimental teaching. Methodological recommendations have been developed and applied in practice.
