Essay

The system of political rights and freedoms as a constitutional institution and the norms of the Constitution and the laws of Ukraine, which confer the said rights and freedoms, are investigated in the paper. The constitutional institution of political rights and freedoms is characterized as a certain body of norms laid down in the Fundamental Law of Ukraine, governing the relations in various areas of socio-political life, in particular, public governance. The normative contents of this institution consists of the provisions laid down in Articles 36-39 of the Constitution of Ukraine, which not only confer political rights and freedoms, but also guarantee their exercise. One group of political rights and freedoms includes those rights, which enable nationals to participate in formation and exercise of power.
