Essay

The dissertation research focuses on studying how the mental model of the world can be developed in the early young age by means of Internet. The essence, the structure, and the factors and mechanisms of the mental model of the world development were disclosed in the paper; the characteristics of its development in the early young age were described. The influence of the Internet activity on the human's mental model of the world was considered, as well as developmental possibilities of the Internet environment. The research methods for investigation of the mental model of the world in early youth were worked out by the author. For this purpose, a system of characteristics and principal elements of the mental model was suggested, the components of which are crucial in the early youth. Using these methods, the main features of the Internet user's mental model of the world were researched, and the correlation between these features and the properties of the Internet environment was proved. The principles of psychological work in the virtual training environment were described in the thesis, using as an example the "Virtual Street" project. In the paper, the following aspects of virtual training were analyzed: the content of the training site, the virtual community and the net's etiquette. The main methods which were used in the process of virtual training were scrutinized, along with the specificity of their application according to the peculiarities of the Internet activity. The experiential data were obtained that evidenced the efficacy of the application of the aforementioned methods for the mental model of the world development in the active users of the early young age.
