Peleshenko N. Complex treatment of chronic rhinosinusitis with patients of advanced age

This thesis is dedicated to the clinical and immunologic substantiation of patients of advanced age with chronic rhinosinusitis using the combination of the sinupret phytopreparation and tiocetame immune modulator with nootropic features. The data given in this paper were obtained in the course of study of 110 patients with chronic rhinosinusitis of advanced (80) and young age and 30 persons in the control group (almost healthy persons of advanced and young age). The experimental data obtained from 208 rats of Vyvaria breed from O.S. Kolomiychenko Institute of Otolaryngology and the Ukrainian Academy of Medical Studies. Experimentally there was detected the immune modulating action of tiocetame capable of stimulating the genesis of antibodies with "old" animals and activating the functional activities of various groups of cytotoxic cells. The results of studies of the immune modulating properties of sinupret phytopreparation show that the use of this preparation by healthy "old" animals promotes in increase of the mass and number of cells of the thymus gland, including upon simulated immune deficit, which is the basis for application of the immune rehabilitating therapy. Combined administration of sinupret and tiocetame to animals entailed the pronounced additive effect. There was observed the activation of immune processes in cells and humor both upon normal immune system and upon immune deficit. The obtained data allow recommending the use of the preparations upon treatment of infectious and inflammatory diseases in advanced age. Inclusion of tiocetame and sinupret in the complex therapy of patients of advanced age sick with chronic rhinitis exercise high therapeutic effect which showed itself in reduction of the number of the disease recurrences, enhancement of the clinical flow of accompanying diseases and lowering of the acute respiratory diseases rate in the course of the year.
