The dissertation focuses on the "lyrical hero". Theoretical approaches to the study of the image of the lyrical hero in the poetry of the Silver Age are considered. The evolution of the lyrical hero in the poetry of Osip Mandelshtam is explored within the context of the development of lyrical poetry at the beginning of the 20th century, changes in artistic worldview, and the historical and cultural situations of the epoch. Semantic and formal characteristics of Mandelshtam's image of the lyrical hero are explored with regard to various aspects of the writer's creative concerns: spiritual growth, historical method, philosophical understanding of public processes, nature and the world revealed through the lens of culture. The mythological and literary sources contributing to the creation of Mandelshtam's image of the lyrical hero are discussed in the dissertation. Special attention is paid to the system of motives which are concentrated around the author's image of the lyrical hero: motives of acceptance of the world, "domesticating" and "warming" of material, "poetic architecture", civil service and etc. The image of the lyrical hero is considered as a functional aspect of the poetry of Mandelshtam. The textual and extratextual aspects of Mandelshtam's image of the lyrical hero and the originality of the writer's style and characteristic features of his works are presented in the dissertation. The relationship of Mandelshtam's image of the lyrical hero to notions of "artistic time" and "artistic space" are examined in the dissertation.
