The problem of shaping musical competencies of the students of pedagogical universities is researched in the dissertation. Theoretical methodological basis of competencies-oriented education is covered in the research, historical background of the establishment and development of the system of future teachers' musical training is revealed, the essence of musical competencies of students' of pedagogical universities and the methodological basis of their shaping are determined, a scope of structural models of musical competencies of the students of pedagogical universities is developed, the methodology of shaping musical competencies of future teachers of non-musical specialties
