Essay

The urgency of the research subject is caused by the fact that politics is the sphere of the struggle for power, where a separate personality with his/her interests, needs and values is in the first place. The democratic development of a society implies that the struggle for power, influence on it involves both men and women. The growth of the influence of women in the political sphere is the objective reality today, and the active participation of women in government processes as well as in opposition became the absolute phenomenon. For modern Ukrainian society the interest in the defined problems is caused by unique political, historical and social-cultural conditions of the state as well as an originality of the national portrait of a political leader, the specifics of his/her relationships with other subjects of the political process. One of the most important political problems of modern society is the problem of the formation of the political leadership. Today as never before there is a great need for a political leader who is capable to respond quickly and adequately to the problems which the society faces and the most important who is capable to find effective ways of settling the up-to-date questions. The opposed women's leadership which determines to what extent the society is democratic and legal and a woman can realize her aims (especially the opposition) in politics is of a particular importance in determining the role of women in the political process.
