Essay

Proceeding from the analysis results of hetman's Ivan Vyhovsky image evolution in Ukrainian history, the author asserts that it was essential changed throughout the centuries. It had a canonical-negative form in folk-lore, Cossack chronicles, in belles-lettres of XIX, works of 30-40 years XX centuries but nowadays it is acquiring a many-sided colour, it is due to writers analytical and psychological fitting into reality, their appreciable subjective vision of the problem.
