Kosenko K. Predicate basis and semantico-grammatical differentiation of verbal links in the Ukrainian language.

The dissertation is dedicated to the complex research of verbal links in the compound predicates of two-member sentences and compound principal sentence parts of one-member sentences in the Ukrainian language. The verbal links proper, verbal links non proper, and contextual links are discriminated depending upon the degree of their semantic vagueness and syntactical grammaticalization. The role of the verbal links in transposition of various parts of speech classes into the syntactical sphere of the verb is analyzed. The idea or link-induced and predicative explication of the predicates of state is suggested and theoretically conceptualized, and the correlations of verbal links of compound predicates and compound principal members of one-member sentences with semantic predicates of elementary and non-elementary sentences are determined. Specific features of contextual links and their functional equivalents among links proper and links non proper are established, and new tendencies in the expansion of the number of Ukrainian verbal links are tracked down.
