The object is the tetralogy of B .K. Zaytsev "The Travelling of Gleb''. The aim is to study the specialities of understanding, transformation and continuation of traditions of the Russian autobiographic prose in the tetralogy of B.K. Zaytsev "The Travelling of Gleb". The methods are integral, comparative-typologycal and reason analysis. The discovered properties of the author's cycle indicate that it can't be related to any tendency in the Russian autobiographic prose. "The Travelling of Gleb'' shows the author's usage of the classical genre possibilities, and of the major transformation of the tradition that was formed. The tetralogy of B.K. Zaytsev shows that the main elements of the canonical genre formed in the XIX century are vivid and productive in the Russian literature of the first half of XX century. However, in the cycle we can trace the artistic and religious searches of the Russian modernism, which destroyed and renewed not only the genre-stylistic forms, but also found the new stylistic and lingual features of the new meanings.
