Essay

The objects are the texts of poets and prosaics of Russian romanticism, actual creators of "The Myth of Kyiv". The aim is to find out the characterological lines of "The Myth of Kyiv" as an artistic concept in Russian Romantic literature. The methods are system approach, comparative-historical, intertextual and structural-semantic. The research analyses "The Myth of Kyiv" and its structure, taking into consideration the status of the city as a sacral, political and cultural centre of the Eastern Slavs, as an artistic concept in Russian Romanticism. The study of its Romantic artistic interpretation develops our idea of a Romantic historic character being different from classic predecessors, naturally religious, irregular, potentially psychologically complicated and independent from traditional authority. "The Myth of Kyiv" contributes to the intensification of social conceptions of the representatives of Romanticism, whose political orientation ousted the sacral element. The wealth and great diversity of genre-stylistic solutions of "Тhe Myth of Kyiv" by the representatives of Romanticism (lyric, lyro-epic, dramatic forms; satire and parody) is a confirmation of an active literary search. This fact gives grounds to assert that the development of literary process in the 1st half of the XIX century was very active on the background of the decline of Classicism. Application sphere is the training courses.
