Essay

The ionizing radiation effects on physiological, morphological and biochemical properties of spermatozoa of experimental animals and human have been studied. The accomplished research on isolated spermatozoa of different animal species and human has shown the ability of spermatozoa to repair damages caused by ionizing radiation and the ability to retain a physiological function in delivery genetic material to maternal genome after irradiation in wide dose range. Depending on a species increase of some physiological parameters was observed. Studying of DNA fragmentation has shown the existence of crucial genome damages and the ten-dency to exhaustion of sperm functional potential. The developing of adequate approach for semen quality evaluation in the given work may provide an op-portunity to define more accurately sperm quality and to show up the latent damages critical for both stor-age and fertilization.
