Essay

The thesis is dedicated to the research of etymological and structural-semantic features of Latin homonyms. The reasons of Latin heterogeneous etymological homonyms as phonetic convergence and phonetic adaptation of the borrowed word; homogeneous semantic homonyms formed as a result of divergence development and specialization of meanings of a polysemantic word; the essence of word-building homonyms and ways of their creation were defined. The semantic opportunities of proper names (anthroponyms and toponyms) were also analysed.
