Petrochuk O. The Meliorative Aspects of the Semantics of Phraseological Units in Modern German

The dissertation focuses on the meliorative component of the semantics of phraseological units in modern German. The selection of evaluative phraseological units was based on the presence of either meliorative semantic indicators or meliorative emotional markers (Kosewort, scherzhaft) in the semantic structure of a unit. The meliorative evaluation of phraseological units proves to be a specific conglomeration of various types of evaluation - of ra-tional-emotional, rational-pejorative and emotional-pejorative types. The appearance of the positive emotional evaluative component in a phraseological unit is a direct result of a semantic transforma-tion that involves either basic or latent semes. The salient feature of a latent semantic component of an ambivalent phraseological unit is its actualization.
