Breydak Y. Hygienic rating of polymer-containing materials for production of cabinet furniture

Sanitary and chemical, radiological, toxicological and microbiological researches into the polymer-containing materials for production of cabinet furniture were carried out. It was established that modern cabinet furniture because of containing the wood-based panels, facing materials, polyester resin-based panels, lacquer coatings is the source polluting the dwelling with formaldehyde, ammonia, dibutilphthalate, acetone, dichloroethane and other chemical agents, the migration rate of which exceeds the hygienic rating. Influence of formaldehyde shows itself in general toxic and immunotoxic effects, inflammatory changes in trachea and bronchus. Wood particle boards may contain wood that has accumulated induced isotopes; they neither have fungicidal characteristics, nor stimulate the growth of colon bacillus on their surface. Hygienic safety criteria of polymer-containing materials for production of cabinet furniture were developed and scientifically grounded, and methodological scheme of their hygienic rating for the needs of the state sanitary and epidemiological expert examination was suggested.
