Makovetska-Gudz, Y. Semantic-grammatical Patterns of Authors' Similes (Based on the Ukrainian Poetic Language of the 70-90th of XX century)

It is necessary to treat the query of linguistic devices of creating similes as language phenomenon and as a structural component of poetic language. The models of creation of comparisons which would demonstrate mechanisms and methods of simile realization are not developed in domestic linguistics. In addition, there is no integral study of semantic typology of simile in the Ukrainian poetic language of the 70-90th years of XX century. The question of correlation between semantic filled of components of simile, semantic structure and choice of language means of expression is not enough explored. So, the topicality of the thesis is conditioned by tendencies of modern linguistics. Moreover, the dictionary of the similes and dictionaries of similes certain poet use aren't arranged in Ukrainian linguistics. It stipulated the purpose of dissertation research as establishment of semantic typology of authors' similes and creation of a complex simile model. For achieving the set purpose research was created the special method of analysis of authors' similes; the grammatical (morphological and formal syntactic) and lexical-semantic models of authors' similes are built; certain originality of semantics of subject and object of similes in creativity of poets of second part of ХХ century; the method of organization the dictionaries of simile is developed (paper and electronic). The problem of semantic-grammatical designing of authors' similes is consistently exposed in dissertation research. The scientific novelty is that dissertation research is the first essay of composite study of a simile as a trope and one of receptions and constructive elements of poetic language. In addition, the special simile analyzing technique, which is based on analysis of grammatical meaning (the particulars of morphological structure) and lexical meaning in ideographical terms was offered. The results of dissertation research are: 1) cataloguing of authors' similes of 70-90th years of ХХ century in a database; 2) organization of paper "Dictionary of Similes of 70-90th years of ХХ century" and development of the "Electronic Dictionary of Authors' Similes". The dissertation deepens knowledge about linguistic nature of simile, about artistically stylistic possibilities of comparative constructions. Theoretical positions are produced about possibility and expedience of design of artistic tropes open new possibilities before the researchers of artistic creation. The complex (semantic-grammatical) model of comparison which was offered opens new possibilities for an analysis and interpretation of similes and enables to describe the mechanisms of creation and functioning of comparisons in a poetic text. The dictionaries of authors' similes conclude to extend the scopes of electronic and paper lexicography in industry of creation the dictionaries of tropes.
