Essay

The thesis is devoted to analysis of concept freedom of speech as multivariate verbal intentional substance including its factual, figurative and evaluative components through the investigation of the Ukrainian media discourse. Freedom of speech is considered to be a bilateral entity performing as an element of linguistic picture of the world and as metalinguistic principle of mass media discourse practices construction. In the thesis peculiarities of contemporary Ukrainian mass media conceptual sphere were described. The verbal representatives of concept's freedom of speech objective and value constituents were revealed. The principal conceptual metaphors from the discourse material about freedom of speech were analyzed. The basic ways of manipulative influence undermining freedom of speech as metalinguistic principle of modern media discourse organization were determined.
