The object is N. Frye's critical arts. A aim is the comprehension of features of forming and becoming the N. Frye's critical idea, his methodologies on a background of scientific traditions and innovations in a comparative aspect. The methods are an analysis of the systems, historical and literary, comparative-typological analysis, hermeneutic. The work is an investigation of N. Frye's critical heritage and his specific influence on the development of the western critical literary thought. N. Frye is often considered to be a representative of one of the numerous critical "schools". As it is shown in the investigation such an approach to his critical heritage is one-sided. The author considers that the main feature of N. Frye's methodology is the tendency to assimilate almost all modern method of critical analysis - from socio-cultural to deconstructivistic. Special attention is paid to his conceptions of genesis and development of literature, its connection with myth and folklore, its genres and literary trends. N. Frye's literary criticism heritage is under consideration with the reference to the comparative studies. As a "practical" critic N. Frye, as it is shown, continues the tradition of Anglo-American criticism, that is opposite to the Euro-continental one. Application sphere is the training courses.
