Essay

The thesis is based on the results of clinical examination, two-year follow-up of 120 elderly patients with a chronic form of atrial fibrillation. Predictors of risk of development of cerebral circulation disturbances have been determined: left atrium size, levels of D-dimers, fibrinogen and C-reactive protein. Based on a study of the effect of acetylsalicylic acid, warfarin and pentosane polysulfate on the above predictors, a differentiated approach has been developed, concerning prescription of the above drugs to elderly patients with a chronic form of atrial fibrillation.
