Essay

The thesis deals with the methodology of teaching English professionally-oriented speaking by means of scientific-technical advertisements to students of IT departments. The recourse material comprises of 500 scientific-technical advertisements selected according to defined criteria, the genres were specified and linguistic and non-linguistic fea-tures analyzed. The suggested methodology is theoretically substantiated and practically developed. The system of exercises to teach English professionally-oriented speaking was created with the “information-based” core exercises e.g. information search, exchange and transformations. The effectiveness of the suggested methodology has been verified and confirmed in the course of experimental teaching. Methodological recommendations to teachers have been developed and applied in practice in three higher educational establishments accreditation level III – IV.
