In the dissertation the processes and mechanisms of common identity formation are studied and the system analysis of their influence on national security of the state. The research defines threats as results of unformed common identity: crisis of political institution, separatism, conflict of political interests, low level of political culture and civic society, civilization uncertainty and staying in the "grey zone" of international politics, desouvereignization. Analysis of processes and mechanisms of formation of citizen's common identity are done on example of EU. Through deep research of role of political institutions in process of common identity formation the author develops practical recommendations for elaboration of effective politics common identity formation in Ukraine. The thesis proposes new theoretical approaches to research of identity and her influence on national security.
