The subject is the novel by V.V Krestovsky's "Petersburg's Slums"; the goal is to determine the most important characteristics of the imaginative world of the novel by V.V Krestovsky's "Petersburg's Slums", to describe its problems and to determine properties of its genre poetics; the methods are integral, motive, comparative-historical research of the literary text; the originality is the creative work of V.V. Krestovsky's, the peculiarity of its problems which have been analyzed without ideological stamps and in the free-tendency perspective; the revaluation of the literature reputation of the writer has been done; the new periodization of the writer's creative work has been done; the most complete analyses of the polygenre nature of the novel has been done; the most important contribution of the writer into the establishing of the mass literature in Russia; the results can be used in the further scientific researches of the History of the Russian literature of the second part of the ХІХ century, in the process of studying of Literature in the High schools, for the special seminars and special courses, for the open classes on the History of Literature in Secondary schools; the branch is Philology
